The failure of titles

We put so much emphasis on how we set ourselves apart from our peers by having more and more titles, such as Doctor or Engineer, or in corporate environments to subdivide those further we have Junior, Senior and Regular, this then has I, II, and III levels, up to the moon in many cases

The purpose of these titles is simply financial at some point, but people wear it on their chests as if it is an achievement, it may indeed have been in a past life where loyalty to a company was rewarded with climbing the ranks, but nowadays, it is more of a certificate of achievement, earned only after trading your time for the title

I always thought before i got promoted that I would feel different, feel more competent, more something but, I got promoted and absolutely nothing changed, neither internally nor externally, but the salary.

The sad thing about these titles is that the more you are around them the more meaningless they feel, you move from company to company and see more and more senior employees that are absolutely incapable, just diligently showing up and being of little value consistently, till such a point that they may as well be promoted.

The most irritating thing about the promotion is the fact that people really think they have achieved something worth sharing publicly, "I am really excited to announce that I have just been promoted to ..." from one lowly position to another to appear enthused by the idea of being employed for a large corporate that does close to nothing, and to share that you too have no idea what they do either.
