Networking

Living abroad you can have a much larger network than if you were to stay at home your whole life, but if you did stay at home you would have much stronger connections with those around you.

What is better and is there an optimal way to keep these connections strong and broad? In the modern age it is much easier to be able to keep in touch but as you get to know more and more people you find that you end up telling the same story every day, this becomes repetetive and boring, I couldn't possibly tell my story once more because I have heard it too many times and each time i retell it i start to step over large parts, it essentially becomes whatever is most convincing.

This is the introduction to a large number of people, so if i had a smaller network i wouldn't have to deal with such situations but i wouldn't have seen as much of the natural world as i have or had the possibility to do half of the things. I like the idea of my word being my word, be tight lipped so that when you say something it has value, unfortunately for me, I love to talk, but i also do mean a lot of what I say. As a listener it could be hard to know, however, when is fact and when is fiction. Then if i were to say something of meaning, it would happen as and when i said it, this is useful in maintaining a strong broad network because one is reserved with their words, they have more direct impact when used, obviously i could achieve the same result it would just mean i have to spend 10x more time to convince somebody that this is in fact the truth.

Boarding school friends are great because even if i go years without seeing them, whenever i do see them we pick up where we left off, and this is because of the fact that we know each other well enough to differentiate between the wheat and the chaff.
